I'm Back!
Sorry for such a long hiatus from our blog site. I really don't have a legitimate excuse, except that life has a way of speeding by. Yes, we've been busy... but not any more than usual. Just your ordinary busy with kids. Since January boys have been busy playing Indoor Soccer every Sunday. It's been great! Christopher's metro soccer team decided to play for fun during off-season. Jeffrey joined them as well, and it's been so exciting. At first they struggled... didn't really know how to play the game, but over time their footskills and teamwork have improved dramatically. Each session consists of 8 games, and this weekend we will be playing the last game of our 2nd session... so over the 4 months we've watch our boys grow as a player. With the outdoor soccer season right around the corner the boys should be in tip-top shape.
Christopher has also joined the Science Olympiad team at his school. To his surprise he made the A-team, which also surprised many of his friends. I guess it's hard to get into the A team, especially if you've never been in the team before. Initially we weren't sure he was going to stick with it due to poor time management, but he stuck it out and had a tremendous time doing it. He entered to compete in 3 events: Meteorology, Tower Building, and Wheeled Vehicles. The Regional Competition was held at CSUS in March, where their school came in 2nd place. He placed 2nd in Meteorology, 2nd in Tower Building and 4th in Wheeled Vehicles. Then in April they competed in the State Competition at UC Merced. Their school placed 2nd again with hims placing 3rd in Meteorology, 2nd in Tower Building and 2nd in Wheeled Vehicles. Overall, he thoroughly enjoyed the process although it required hours of studying, building, testing, etc.... many sleepless nights... He wants to do it again next year. It has also perked Jeffrey's interest. You see, the 1st place at Regionals & States was Jeffrey's school team. Here are some pictures from the State Competition.
